Teen Drivers Ed  (14-17)

In the State of Texas, Teen Drivers Ed is offered as a parent taught, online or in-person format.  There are many pros and cons to each format.  Our school only offers online and in-person at the moment.  We provide online courses throughout the year and will be holding in-person classes in the Summer of 2026.  To view class dates, times and locations CLICK HERE

All formats (parent-taught, online, or in-person) shall include:

  • Phase 1 - 24 hours of total class course work of which the first 6 hours shall include 2 DPS exams (Road Rules and Road Signs).   After completing the first 6 hours and passing both exams the student will be issued a DEE-964 certificate for a learner license.  Now the student can legally practice driving on Texas roads with someone over the age +21 with valid driver license and at least 1 year of driving experience.

  • Phase 2 - 7 hours driving and 7 hours observing with a certified instructor or driving school.

  • Teens must log 30 hours of practice driving with a parent, guardian or anyone age +21 with a valid license and at least 1 year driving experience 10 of which must be at night.

  • Watch a 2 hour video through the DPS website and print out a certificate after.  This certificate is valid for 90 days.

Adult 6hr Course (18+)

Adult students 18-25 must complete a 6 hour class in-person or online.  Students will be given two DPS exams (Road Signs and Road Rules) and once they complete and pass the class they will be issued a certificate ADEE-1317.  The student will then take the certificate to DPS and will either apply for an adult permit or schedule a driving test.  The final task before your road test is to watch the mandatory video from DPS called IMPACT Texas Adult Drivers.  The video is 1 hour long and has a few questions at the end.  A certificate will be issued upon completion with a 90 day expiration date.  To register for the video click on the LINK HERE.  Students that may need additional in-car training can also sign up for driving lessons with a certified instructor.  For more information contact our office at 361-827-2117.
